PFU (EMEA) Limited is helping the London Ambulance Service Historic Collection to digitise collection of 30,000+ historical documents.
As one of the world’s oldest and largest ambulance services, the London Ambulance Service (LAS) has a unique history, changing and growing alongside the history of the city of London, with vehicles and documents going back nearly 200 years.
“We recognised in working to provide greater access to the archive, that we needed to digitise documents, so we started using a home domestic combi printer/scanner – a seemingly endless task,” explains Andy Whatling, London Ambulance Service Historic Collection Manager.
The London Ambulance Service Historic Collection team is now scanning and archiving documents using a ScanSnap iX1500. “We’ve been extremely impressed with the ScanSnap device,” continues Whatling. “It has made our work so much easier and expedited our ability to digitalise documents and create a database for public record.”
