PFU (EMEA) Limited - A RICOH company has partnered with DELTA, a software company specialising in the development of data digitisation and people identification solutions, to create a streamlined guest check-in experience for the hospitality industry.
Hotansa, a company specialising in hotel management and catering in Andorra, decided years ago to digitise its reception and check-in process in all its hotels. Thanks to the unique DELTA ID solution, which combines DELTA ID OCR with RICOH fi-series devices specifically for ID documents (fi-65F, fi-70F, fi-800R), Hotansa has reduced its paper consumption, thus increasing its sustainability, and improved the guests' experience, making their welcome and check-in process much faster.
The DELTA ID solution, based on artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, enables the fast extraction of data from all types of ID documents including ID cards, passports and driving licences from up to 200 countries. The PaperStream IP (TWAIN) 3.30. software, which connects the image capture peripherals with the control software, makes this system the perfect partner for the compact PFU scanners.
"To create an optimal solution for the tourism sector, we took into account two key elements: the limited space in reception areas and the need for fast and convenient check-in to avoid unnecessary queues," says Bernat Garriga, CMO at DELTA, "PFU's devices, which we have been working with since 2005, are the ideal hardware for our solutions due to their durability, speed and almost non-existent incidence level".
Both the fi-70F, a flatbed scanner with a lid designed to scan ID documents, and the fi-800R, which thanks to its dual path allows scanning of ID cards and passports as well as A4 documents, are designed to take up little space, adapting to any counter or reception desk, with the ability to scan in just a few seconds. Although with two different ways of managing documents, the intuitive use and automatic functionalities of these unique devices allow them to be easily integrated into any workflow, improving efficiency and productivity.
"This solution has enabled us to reduce guest check-in to as little as eight seconds. In this way, we have freed up time that our receptionists can now invest in improving the quality of service, directing their attention to more personal and friendly details that improve our guests' stay," adds Daniel Gonzalez, director of accommodation at Hotansa. "At Hotansa, we are committed to sustainability and excellent service. For us, luxury is not only about the standard and location of the facilities, but also about the unique experience we provide."
"Co-creation is what drives our business: from the design to the manufacturing of the equipment, we take into account the needs of our partners, ISVs and customers," explains Jesús Cabañas, regional director for Iberia at PFU (EMEA) Limited - A Ricoh Company. "The hotel industry is one of the sectors most affected by inefficient administrative processes. In particular, visitor check-in can be slow and lead to queues, making the accommodation look bad. For this reason, our devices integrated with both DELTA's software and the environment presented by Hotansa, allow us to offer a unique customer experience.
